I am writing this to make a point for others that have crazy things happen at school. We go through our classes, work hard, and sometimes fail. I feel that being a teacher and learning from other educators is essential. The course work that I have done at American College of Education not only benefits me, but also my students and my colleagues.
I can share with them some of the new technologies that I have learned about in my coursework. We have department meetings and SIP days that I can ask to present some of what I have learned. I believe that it is important for all educators to be up to date on new programs that benefit us and our students.
High school educators can benefit from learning new ways of teaching and communicating about good methods of collaboration in classes. Using what I have learned I can help others form new lessons that focus on collaboration for group speeches and or group projects in class. This is great because students can receive support and the teachers can reach out and get the support that they need from others(me.)
I am not sure where this path ends, but I am grateful to be a part of a school that allows us to learn from each other.
Life is full of speed bumps. It is how we navigate them that counts. As The Beatles once said, “I get by with a little help from my friends.”
Until next time,
Cathy Largent
